GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION AND NATURAL CONDITIONS
1.1 Geographical location
The North of the province adjoins to Dak Nong province, the South adjoins to Binh Duong province, the East adjoins to Lam Dong province and Dong Nai province, the West adjoins to Tay Ninh province and Kingdom of Cambodia.
Administration bounder of the province comprising of 10 administration units including 03 towns of Dong Xoai, Phuoc Long, Binh Long and 07 districts of Dong Phu, Loc Ninh, Bu Dang, Bu Dop, Cho Thanh, Hon Quan and Bu Gia Map; Dong Xoai town is the political, economic and cultural center of the province which is situated about 110km away from Hochiminh city.
1.2 Climate and hydrographical conditions
Binh Phuoc province is located in the subequatorial tropical climate zone with monsoon and 02 clear seasons of rainy season lasting from May to October, dry season lasting from November to next April. The province is less impacted by natural disasters, flood, and storm and without influence of earthquake which are favorable conditions for agricultural and industrial production development.
1.3. Natural Resources
Soil resources: Binh Phuoc province has 687,155ha of natural land and the soil in Binh Phuoc is very rich and suitable for long-term industrial trees such as rubber, cashew, pepper, coffee, fruit trees,… which are favorable conditions for development of agricultural and forestry production.
Water resources: Binh Phuoc has a rich source of water surface from such big rivers as Dong Nai river, Saigon river, Be river,… and streams distributed throughout the province. Besides there are many lakes and dams such as Dong Xoai lake, Suoi Cam lake, Rung Cam lake, Phuoc Hoa lake,… Thac Mo hydroelectric dam, Can Don dam, Srok Phu Mieng dam to supply water for domestic demand and development of industrial and agricultural production. Richness in water source is among good conditions for Binh Phuoc province to exploit groundwater source to serve for economic development.
Forest resources: Forestry land area of the province is 178,418ha, including special forest with area of 31.282ha, protective forests with area of 45,817ha and production forest with area of 110,319ha. The natural forest in Binh Phuoc is rich in terms of reserves and various in terms of type and plays the important role in maintaining and protecting the ecological environment for Southeast region.
Mineral resources: in Binh Phuoc province, there is a big reserve of minerals with various types such as stone, sand, clay, Puzolan, kaolin, boxit, lime,.. in which lime has the biggest reserve ranking the second biggest in the country, only after Kien Giang province which is the favorable condition for strong development of cement production sector.
